πŸ’œ When Home Isn't Safe

Recognizing domestic abuse and getting help safely β€” for yourself, or for someone you're worried about. Naming it, reaching real support, and staying as safe as you can.

Your safety first. If you're in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (e.g. 911, 112, 999). An abuser may be able to see what you do on your phone or computer β€” if that's a risk, read this on a safer device (a library computer, a trusted friend's phone) and clear your history; the Quick exit button (top right) leaves this page fast. A domestic-abuse helpline has trained advocates who help confidentially β€” search "[your country] domestic violence helpline" (examples: US 1-800-799-7233, text START to 88788; UK 0808 2000 247). These are examples β€” find the one for your country.

Abuse isn't only being hit. It's a pattern of control β€” fear, isolation, money held over you, constant monitoring, threats, being put down until you doubt yourself β€” and it can be hard to name, especially from inside it. None of it is your fault, and you are not alone or trapped, even when it feels that way. This kit helps you recognize what's happening, understand your options, and reach the people whose job is to help you get safe. It is not a substitute for a trained advocate β€” they're the ones who help make a real plan for your situation. Free, private, no tracking.

General information to help you recognize abuse and find support β€” not legal advice, not therapy, and not a safety plan in itself (a trained advocate helps build that with you, safely). Laws, protections, and helplines vary a lot by country and region; reach a local service.
